All About One of Summer's Hottest Trend: Cuban Link Jewelry

·
It’s hard to pinpoint when the Cuban link was invented, but its origin actually has nothing to do with Cuba or other Caribbean countries outside of Puerto Rico (where it is known as "Puerto Rican link chain"). The style did not become popularized until the rise of hip hop in 70s New York. Originally worn by local Hispanics as simply a novel trend, the Cuban link style was quickly picked up by kids in the Bronx who were fascinated by the single-row of spherical beads that rattled noisily when one moved.
